Please find and read a news or opinion article on High Expectations for Teens
Post a reply below with the following information:
You will need to then respond to two students about their article (agree/disagree) and make sure they haven't read the same article as you. You need to make ONE (1) post for this week and complete one assignment.
The post will be to answer the Interview Question, no responses to other students. The assignment is to take the Survey on "Student Survey" web page, and complete the other and print and turn in. You DO NOT have to comment on any student's posts this week. Interview Question: "Would you rather work for money or job satisfaction?" Instead of completing mock interviews for the class the remaining DQ's will require you to post answers to sample interview questions. I expect answers to be answered as if you were in an interview setting and be written using proper English and using 200-300 words.
Here is a web site that will give you some advice on answering questions. How to Answer Tricky Questions Now here is the 3rd to last DQ. Answer the following interview question and then comment on 2 other student's posts by giving them advice on a better way to answer the question. "What is your greatest strength, and some of your weaknesses?" So are you wondering if I really read them. Well Riley and Wyatt yes I read them and I can also tell if you read the article or just other student's posts. If you are wondering if I can tell what time you posted, yes I can see the date, time to the second so posting on Saturday will not get you credit.
Some of you have seen your grade improve because you have started doing your DQ, while others of you are seeing a sinking grade because of lack of effort on your DQ's. With only 4 weeks of school left, I would make sure that my last 4 DQ's are not only done but done well. These may be your final grades before semester exam, don't make a whole you can't get out of. We have been working on work portfolio's so that we can get an interview. The work portfolio gets us in the door, but we have to be able to sell ourselves once we are there.
THE most difficult question that will be asked by and employer is "Tell Me About Yourself." Even though this should be easy we often get scared and never know what to say. So we are going to practice now. I want you to type up an answer to that question. You will be graded on what you say, grammar, spelling, and most importantly your word count. YOU MUST HAVE 200 or more words on this one. For the comments to other students - you only need to do 1 and you must pick someone you DO know well and provide them with thoughts on what they could include about themselves. If someone else has already respond to that student you have to pick someone else - so that means that each student should post, provide a comment, and have one response from another student. If you post a comment to a student that has already been posted then you must do 2 comments and not just one. REMEMBER - these are job related answers, not a I like to hanging out with friends and party. We want to know about you as a possible employee. Read the following article by clicking on the link or by picking up the print out off the round table. Then respond by stating what you learned and what you agree or disagree with.
What an Interviewer Sees Remember to respond to 2 different students posts as well. The biggest font used needs to be used on your NAME.
Also watch your white space - if you look at the Resume it should catch your eye make you want to read it. Look at the Super Hero's Resume's from a distance and see what looks the best. That is how some employers decide what Resume to read. Lots of questions have come up about the job to pick. The requirement is that YOU can do it right now. That means if they say you must have a High School Diploma you CANNOT apply for it. There are a ton of jobs out there that you can do, but you will have to put effort forth to find them.
The other question is does it have to be somewhere close to Pomeroy, no - as long as you can find the information needed to apply and you can do the job. IT IS IMPORTANT TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS IF YOU WANT TO GET YOUR EXTRA CREDIT POINTS FOR THE WORD OF THE DAY!!!!!
Following directions IS the most important skill you will learn while taking my class!!!!! |
